Ps 127 2 In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat-
for he grants sleep to those he loves.
In my opinion the first part of the Psalm is a curse in direct contrast to the second part which is "he grants sleep to those he loves"..which is the promised blessing. In this Psalm he is describing the care that God has for His covenant people in the midst of the humanistic ideal..which is to conclude that work is mans judgement. The principle is that God uses evil men to provide the nation who work 7 days a week, because they worship this world. We as Gods people push this view away.
The Psalmist is practicing pushing the cursed humanist away. In pushing it away he is establishing his success. This act of pushing the curse away by pronouncing the end of humanism is the defense that proceeds the use of weapons in war. This is why he says that unless the Lord builds the house....or unless Gods law is established in building the world by through the nation of Israel then the world would be humanistic.
When the Psalmist goes on to describe relationships in the family , he is saying that the curse against humanism will be the enforcement to simplify the family. Instead of the military being defined by public identity they will be defined by family origins. This involves the proper education of the children. So the teaching is that if we pronounce the curse against humanism then we will propagate children who defend the family values as the motive for fighting against the nations. The terrible effects of the curse are fueled by a very strong temptation to go outside of Gods law that simplifies and prevents humanism from being present from one generation to another. In this sense the success of the military in cursing the nations in war is spreading life on the earth.

In the Psalm the pronouncement of death by the law for law breakers is foreseen in God as if a person who was under the power of the curse in time was sure to receive the final judgement in eternity. The enforcement of the curse is always absolute according to Gods judgement. God sees dead men walking.

The Psalmist in acknowledging Gods decrees understands that God does whatever pleases Him. God does not deal emotionally with anything. He simply speaks and His judgements are sure and steadfast. But we however experience doubts, threats, pain and sorrow. But we must understand that God describes everything according to His perfect word. So sin is not just violating a law. Rather it is reducing Gods perfect description by our corruption or inability. When God speaks it is perfect. But when we communicate it is a redefinition of Gods perfect description. So you can see that there is no chance for us to live one second without offending God. This is the description of the proliferation of evil in the context of the difference between violence and non violence.

This is why the Psalmist speaks the decrees, curses, covenants, and promises.Because Gods "word" that created and sustains the world is unified in its purpose to bring God glory to Himself. Absolute power is expressed in God governing over all authority and creation by the perfect judgement of blessing and cursing. This is why the cross is described as hate and love, justice and mercy coming together. Because God made man like Himself, we communicate according to our desires through the pronouncement of these gifts. We do not align our desires with God but He communicates through these gifts of His word to unite our purpose in this life with our desires. This is why the Psalmist seeks to be happy by praising God, seeks to be safe by speaking the curses, and seeks to know God by praying on the basis of His covenant language. This is the expression of Gods government ruling in the human heart.

The curses are a natural response to our experience of corruption. Mans judgement about sin, pain, corruption is finite. If we understood the depth of in our judgement as God understands we would be destroyed. At all times we are subject to living according to our short sighted view of events and people. We think that we can gain success by acting, Our first response to correcting things is do something. But the bible teaches that the purpose of our lives is to understand who God is and who we are. This is why God did not leave us a rule book but a living word of communication to our souls.

So our problems always start from a lack of understanding of who God is by what He says to us. This is why the Psalmist has learned to think Gods thoughts after Him in order to cheer Him on in His purposes. The most fundamental need that we have is to be able to see every thing as already being decided before we get consolation and satisfaction. This is why God gave us pronouncements of the curses so that we might be pleased with bringing our anger to be consumed in His final righteous indignation. It is important for us to go through this searching of our anger curse so that we will be converted to a satisfying rest. We are always taught that its better to be silent before God in order to hear God. But the Psalmist speaks the curses in order to gain confidence in Gods response to evil as if the Psalmist was wrestling with the evil. God teaches us as we speak these gifts to align our feelings with our words. We are beings with human feelings of anger, doubt and fear. We need to understand how God communicates these dispositions in the control of our minds. This is the way that God creates and recreates by His word.
