Before we obtained grace we were under our school master of the law through being alienated from God. All of our possessions were obtained by our own sweat. All of our enemies were from within. We were motivated by guilt, shame , fear, and sorrow. Our motives were divided between feeling sorrow for ourselves and gaining respect through aggression. All of our confidence was in having a group of people who followed us. We believed that we could prolong our lives through some outward behavior.
But when we obtained grace all of these things got reversed. Now sin becomes our friend because God has taken care of it and pity's us as weak and in need of His strength. We no longer have divided allegiances,...we no longer have enemies from within...all of our enemies are without...we no longer are motivated by guilt, fear, shame or sorrow. But because God has justified us in Christ we now become a kingdom that cannot be thwarted. Our problems no longer come from some deep rooted evil agenda.. (dont confuse this with my writing about brain injuries... I have a living ..walking example in my son of every form of mental illness as a result of a brain that is not normal) but we wrestle with people who want to define us in an evil way. All of our confidence is in God alone since we have been implanted with the seed of His word .. or the creative power of God to overcome all opposition. We put our trust in Gods sovereign hand that the length of our lives are under His care. This is why grace is so important.
