Ps 29 1 Ascribe to the LORD , O mighty ones,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness."
Gods power is absolute. The Psalmist says ..when He speaks it is done. Man displays strength under the constraints of time and space but Gods power is exercised over the mysterious things that exist. Man exercises his strength in limited space but God exercises His strength over the entire earth. The Psalmist is teaching that Gods voice is a voice of creation. The presence of man in Gods creation is being present in God speaking the law, covenants, curses, statutes, promises and decrees. We say that man is able to create the future by pronouncing the words of God but God controls the life and death of all things by His understanding of the full knowledge of His word. When God speaks it is with the understanding of the beginning and ending of all things.
In the garden all things that were created worked together in perfect unity. But Gods curse of brought opposition into creation. Now the earth is opposed to the purposes of man. The disasters of the earth are showing the power of Gods curse. Because these disasters are on a large scale they interrupt the order that is established by mankind. Man by nature is arbitrary in the use of the law. He us made to use the law to defend himself. This is why the apostle says that man creates his own law. He is geared toward condemning his neighbor while at the same time exonerating himself. But these big disasters of Gods creation disarm mans defenses.
Because of sin man has redefined the law of God in order to rule the earth as his own god. But you see, God has contained His power over life and death in the curse of the law. Man cannot escape the order that God exercises in the use of the law. Because God created man to exercise his authority over the creation by using the law, then he is comfortable with his miss guided applications and redefinition's. So man becomes dependent upon his own defenses by the practice of redefining Gods law. This is why Gods control over big disasters of nature causes the natural man to abandon his confidence in his schemes.
The author of Hebrews teaches that 11 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." He is teaching that Gods eternal word that is the pronounced cause of all things is mysterious. The law, covenants, curses, commands, decrees etc given to Gods people contain the entire order of creation. We are contained in the mysterious pronouncement that God has revealed in the bible..... in the sense that the word addresses those events that have impacted our lives that are beyond our understanding.Even tho the pronouncements that we speak are motivated by troubles that come into our lives yet the pronouncements address the eternal purposes and deliverance from Gods view in eternal salvation. This use of speaking the pronouncements are beyond our understanding or going from mystery to mystery. This voice of creation is personally applied to our limited understanding in being defenseless by these big natural disasters.
The pronouncements are given to us in order to consume the destructive purposes of evil. We are descending into the disaster by pushing the curse beneath our feet. We are made to speak an image in order to create our product. The pronouncements teach us to reorder our words so that we can experience the mystery or being illuminated by the Spirit in our creating. As we learn to trust in recreating our lives by the pronouncements we distrust the words of man.This is why the Psalmist teaches that the disasters destroy the creations that come from mans reordering of Gods pronouncements.The pronouncements lead to the peace that is brought about when mans creation is destroyed in Gods work in the disaster. We are led to mystery that creates the rest that is beyond our understanding.10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood;
the LORD is enthroned as King forever.
11 The LORD gives strength to his people;
the LORD blesses his people with peace.
