The biblical usage is not from our natural way of thinking about these words. Most of the time we think that we are excused by the amount of the lack of resistance we have toward sin. And since we think that we can resist sin by our amount of resistance to it by our willing then the natural view is to make excuses by using these words. Do you understand what i am saying?
